What Are the Latest International Recruitment Changes?
The UK Home Office has introduced regulatory updates effective from 9 April 2025, impacting international hiring practises. These changes focus on compliance and prioritising workers already in the UK. Key modifications include:
- Salary Threshold Increase: Skilled Worker visa minimum salary rises from £23,200 to £25,000 annually (£12.82/hour).
- Care Worker Sponsorship Requirements: Employers in England must prioritise UK-based care workers who need sponsorship.
- Sponsorship Regulations: New rules prohibit transferring sponsorship costs to workers and enforce stricter salary deduction policies.
These changes reflect the government’s plan to reduce dependence on overseas recruitment while encouraging domestic talent development. Organisations must ensure full compliance to avoid penalties.
Why Do These Changes Matters?
These policy updates impact businesses hiring international talent and individuals seeking UK employment. The higher salary threshold ensures fair compensation but may pose financial challenges for smaller businesses.
Changes in the care sector aim to prevent worker exploitation, enforcing stricter recruitment practises. Attending these webinars is essential for staying compliant and adapting to new regulations.
